I was born, Daniel Yarnton Mills, in Exeter England,
…1976 and emigrated to New Zealand with my mother and sister in 1988. I’ve been moving between Europe and N.Z. ever since.
Timeline Start:
Attended Hutt Valley High School 1989-1993

Studied Art, Craft and Design at Marlborough Polytechnic in 1995, during which time I worked on the ‘Murals for Marlborough’ project.

Worked freelance, painting murals from 1996 until today. Co-founded Taniwha Murals in 2000 and began working in schools.

Studied at Wellington’s Art Institution ‘The Learning Connection’ in 1998-1999, receiving a Diploma with honours in 1999.

Travelled to Europe via Asia in 2001, living and working for 9 months in Paris followed by 9 months in St Ives and 9 months in Canberra.

Painted for rent and board in Cambodia, France, England, Ireland and Holland.

Worked with Art students at Brynmawr School, Wales.

Worked with Hutt City Council from 2004 until today on mural projects incorporating Graf Art and young people in a program called ‘Art for Change’.

Travelled to Czech Republic, 2006, during which time started to develop new techniques based on movement and direction. Returned to Czech again in 2009, and again in 2010.

Received award “Best New Zealand Professional Mural 2007″ Judged by Resene Paints Mural Masterpieces Competition, for the Waipu Cove Mural

▼Worked prolifically as a mural painter, often in Wellington, or painting in the studio, amongst the wild remote coastal bush of Aucklands West Coast. 2007-9

▼Lived part time in Prague, the city became a muse, painting Gargoyles, Angels, Gothic, Nouveau and Byzantine architecture.

▼Returned to NZ, working as a mural painter, in Auckland and Wellington, Residing and Painting in a studio in the Far North.
